BOOST is helping one of their teaming parties recruit a well-qualified Director of Data Strategy to join their team and serve in a senior management and practice lead role. You will be responsible for delivering subject matter expertise and thought leadership in data strategy and data science, including but not limited to data strategy, management, governance, analytics, artificial intelligence/natural language processing, and visualization. This is a strategic role within our organization, and you will be responsible for maturing our services and capabilities across projects and defining our service offerings for our clients. This is a full-time position with a hybrid schedule out of McLean, VA.



Service Delivery 

  • Be able to effectively shape, plan, and help management staff engagements 
  • Provide subject matter expertise and thought leadership to projects  
  • Take responsibility for helping project teams develop solutions and services consistent with the data strategy and data science service area 
  • Have a strong understanding of risk management and how to protect the interests of both the client and the organization
  • Understand how to build teams of capability leads and establish the right mix of people and capabilities to serve the client best and strengthen the relationship 
  • Have a broader perspective of potential issues encountered when managing diverse teams and the strategies to overcome them; have a clear understanding of the firm’s commitment to creating a more inclusive culture 
  • Maintain minimum billable target of 50% on existing projects  

Business Development  

  • Assist in the development of content to build capability awareness and brand on website and social media 
  • Promote and facilitate collaboration and standardization of mission support services projects across verticals 
  • Build, maintain, and adapt service offerings to client environments and needs  
  • Research and develop technology offerings to advance capabilities 
  • Manage and grow pipeline of business development opportunities 
  • Lead white paper and proposal development for related opportunities  
  • Identify and pursue key partnerships  
  • Possess a strong commercial acumen and be able to demonstrate a track record of creating, selling, and delivering large-scale engagements 
  • Develop a personal contact network across the organization and in the federal marketplace  

Quality, Innovation and Brand 

  • Support the continued growth of the business through contributing to the wider development of the data strategy and data science practice (e.g., supporting the development of proposals, whitepapers, training, marketing, communications, and recruitment activities) 
  • Lead or play a key role in coordinating service area maturation (e.g., Training, Marketing, Communications or Recruitment)  

Human Resources 

  • Take a selfless interest in the development, success (and happiness) of the organizational staff, especially those working for you 
  • Support the career development of others by acting as a mentor or counselor, consulting staff 
  • Create position descriptions, lead interviews and assist in the recruiting and creation of a pipeline of data strategy and data science capability candidates in concert with Vertical Leads and Project Managers.


Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related degree 
  • At least 15 years of professional experience 
  • 5+ years of government consulting experience 
  • Highly technical subject matter expertise with data strategy, governance, management, visualization, and analytics 
  • Strong knowledge of data storage, metadata, tagging, and data warehousing 
  • Strong knowledge of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing to create value from structured and unstructured data

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written 

Work Authorization Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship 
  • Possess a U.S. Public Trust or ability to obtain a Public Trust 
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule out of McLean, VA
